Marketing Guru
Hi I am David LoPresti and for the last 25 years I have been involved in marketing. In the first 5 years or so my marketing experience was in direct marketing to individuals at tradeshows and conventions. This has allowed me to release the trapped actor that was inside me. In my early years I had always planned to be an actor. In fact in high school and even in middle school I was active in performing arts.
How do I use this love of performing in my marketing? The current cornerstone of my current marketing push is LoPresti First Saturday were I act as MC and producer for a monthly event that features industry notables and celebrates. These breakfast meetings generate thousands of dollars for charity and raise awareness in our community for many charities.
Marketing is all about telling a story. A great story makes for great marketing. For the last decade I have been changing my marketing from print ads and direct postal to email campaigning that support event marketing
These emails let me tell stories about products that I feel passionate about. I am a key creator of a major aviation product that has grown to an entire industry.
Now I am supplementing my email and traditional marketing with social media marketing. This allows me to market in a more targeted and direct way that I find very appealing. Social media marketing connects my marketing efforts directly and instantly to individuals that want to know more about the products and companies that I market and is as exciting to me as being in front of a live audience.
I love to tell stories and have been telling them for most of my life. Story telling for me started around campfires with my friends and my children then moved on to videos and voice over work. Mostly these audiences are small just a hundred or two. My email campaigns reach out to 10s of thousands at a time. What is the largest audience that I have spoken to? I had the honor to be an announcer for Corkey Fornof's aerobatic presentation at Oshkosh's Airventure in front of an audience of more than 60,000. That was a lot of fun.
I love to market with events and story telling but these events must be supported with the entire regiment of supporting marketing so that the stories and events have the proper positioning. That is where the social media, email, and traditional marketing comes into play.
If you have a project that needs some help or a charity that needs help with marketing send me a post or email and I will share my story with you.
Next time I will talk about PR and how PR can be the most effective part of a marketing campaign.
